IoT Venture and Ananda: intelligent networking meets expertise in eDrive systems

With this partnership, IoT Venture GmbH and Ananda are laying the foundations for a new generation of intelligently networked e-bikes. IoT Venture’s tracking solution already offers a wide range of useful functions such as theft protection, riding statistics and inspection reminders, all accessible via the white label app that is part of the solution. By integrating the CAN bus protocol, Ananda’s eDrive systems will be fully compatible with the IoT solution from May 2025. This opens up additional potential for recording and analysing engine data. Furthermore, over-the-air updates can be installed quickly and easily.

IoT Venture and Decathlon make your bike secure: digital anti-theft from March 2025

The partnership allows customers to equip their bikes with the state-of-the-art IT’S MY BIKE GPS tracker when buying, servicing or ordering repairs in all German Decathlon shops and online at decathlon.de. In the event of theft, the IoT Venture’s Bike Hunter team works closely with the police to help recover the bike. In addition, other features such as a digital accident assistant, ride statistics and an automatic service reminder are available in the accompanying app.

IoT Venture and Bizbike launch smart partnership

Customers of the Bizbike brand Veloci can now purchase the tracking solution from IoT Venture, IT’S MY BIKE, as a retrofit solution for the new models “Solid Plus” and “Vivid Plus” in the respective brand stores and in the online store. The retrofit enables users to enjoy precise GPS tracking, theft protection, ride statistics and many other features in the associated IT’S MY BIKE app. A particular benefit for customers in Belgium and the Netherlands: The IoT Venture solution meets all the requirements for mandatory insurance of e-bikes and pedelecs in these countries.

IoT Venture tracking module makes e-bikes eligible for compulsory insurance in the Netherlands

The insurance obligation for e-bikes in the Netherlands stipulates that high-priced models and cargo bikes must be equipped with an activated Track & Trace module in order to be insured. This regulation applies to electric cargo bikes with a value of €3,500 or more and e-bikes with a value of €4,500 or more.

The IoT Venture tracking module is already factory-installed on a wide range of manufacturers, including Riese & Müller, VELO DE VILLE, Ca Go and Advanced, or can be selected during the configuration process, making it easy for e-bike owners in the Netherlands to comply with the new insurance requirements.

Smart lock integration for e-bikes: IoT Venture and VELO DE VILLE set new standards

This innovation is already in use at the Luxembourg Post Office, which is equipped with VELO DE VILLE e-bikes. Thanks to the IoT integration in the lock, employees can access the e-bike fleet virtually at any time and keylessly via “keyless go” - without the hassle of managing keys. Digital anti-theft protection for Dance fleet

One aim of this collaboration is to digitally protect the entire fleet of the rapidly growing Dance company from theft. At the beginning of the year, several thousand “Dance-One” e-bikes were already fitted with GPS trackers from IT’S MY BIKE, IoT Venture’s commercial label. Now other bikes from the Dance fleet are also to be provided with innovative anti-theft protection.

Connected Bikes: IoT Venture and Waldbike start working together

Waldbike is now equipping its e-bikes with GPS trackers from IT’S MY BIKE, IoT Venture’s commercial label. If customers request it, this digital anti-theft protection will be integrated in the bicycle during production. IoT Venture cooperates with B2B providers of the CYCLE e-mobility platform

CYCLE distributes and services e-bikes for courier services via subscription in 85 cities in Germany, Austria, Italy, Poland and the Netherlands. To safeguard the fleets against theft and always maintain an overview of the relevant e-bike data, the Berlin-based company is now working with IoT Venture GmbH’s smart device and associated fleet dashboard. The new 20FIFTY model, in particular, will be the first focus of attention for joint development.

The 20FIFTY, which was specially developed for delivery vehicles, promises a revolutionary solution for delivery in urban areas. This bike, which was exhibited only recently at this year’s EUROBIKE, the leading European trade fair for bicycles, will now be connected to the internet as standard. As a particular highlight, this model’s tracking solution is linked to the bike’s CAN bus and therefore enables more detailed, important real-time data to be read out. This will provide insight into servicing needs, for example.

EUROBIKE is an event that Darmstadt-based company IoT Venture would never miss. “Connected bikes continue to be a hot topic, which everybody in the sector is now aware of. Using recyclable composite frames in production for Advanced Reco e-bikes reduces CO2 emissions by about 68% compared with conventional aluminium or carbon frames. Advanced frames can be completely recycled thanks to their special structure consisting of what is known as composite granulate. “With us, sustainable mobility starts right from the production stage,” affirms Helge von Fugler, Advanced founder and CEO. “That’s why we have the frames manufactured in Germany only.”

Dance GmbH has been providing bike subscriptions in Germany since 2021 and now also offers them in neighbouring France and Austria. FIT e-bike system, new IT’S MY BIKE partner

The cooperative partnership between the two companies is based on two pillars. Firstly, Biketec markets and sells the IT’S MY BIKE retrofit solution through its partner network under its own brand name. Specialist retailers can quickly and easily install the GPS tracker in their stores while e-bike riders benefit from the digital IT’S MY BIKE service world, which is integrated into the FIT app.

Secondly, Biketec customers will be given the option of having the IT’S MY BIKE solution quickly and easily integrated ex works in the future. “We supply many different motors to OEMs, including Panasonic, Brose, TDCM and Bafang. OEMs can seamlessly incorporate the GPS tracker into different drive systems with our technology,” states Manuel Bracher, Chief Information Officer at Biketec GmbH. “Our bike manufacturers offer consumers true added value with a networkable e-bike.”

Around 234,000 bicycles were reported stolen in Germany last year alone. The number of unreported cases is significantly higher. E-bikes in particular attract the attention of thieves. From now on, my Boo will be equipping all its e-bikes with IT’S MY BIKE technology as standard. Customers are now given the option of having all digital services activated in the newly developed my Boo app free of charge for three years. In addition to digital theft protection with a movement alarm, the app can also be used to analyse ride data and acquire insurance packages at a reduced price. An accident assistant can also be activated, which will notify any emergency contacts a rider has added if the rider has an accident.

Schmitz studied International Management at Reutlingen University ESB Business School and has many years’ professional and management experience in industry and consultancy work. Most recently, he was Managing Director at Impleco GmbH, the Berlin-based operator of the wohnglueck.de platform and a SaaS (software-as-a-service) supplier to the real estate and banking sectors.

IoT Venture also welcomed new employee Eva Herman on 1 November. Herman has joined the Customer Care team headed by Customer Relationship Manager Sebastian Stoll, assisting him in answering enquiries and advising specialist retailers. Herman has several years’ experience in customer service and most recently worked for the fibre optics expert Glafex in Darmstadt.
